Braces today are less noticeable than those of the past. Now, the front teeth typically have a bracket bonded directly to the tooth. Brackets may be metal or ceramic. Modern wires are often made of new materials that exert a steady, gentle pressure on the teeth, so that the tooth-moving process may be faster and more comfortable for patients and better for the future bone and gum health. Also new to today’s orthodontic choices is the Invisalign system, which works through a series of nearly invisible, removable and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing.
